Welcome to the Flotilla 12-5, District 1NR Web Site

                             Serving the Braintree, MA Area

 Plymouth Light on Gurnet Point
Plymouth Light on Gurnet Point at the southernmost part of Division 12's area of responsibility.  Here in 1768 stood America's first set of twin lights. The site is magical with crisp salt air, fragrant rosa rugosa, dune grass, salt marsh, pines and cedars.

Serving the South Shore of MA from Hull, MA to Marshfield, MA area, Flotilla 12-5, is one of the three flotillas making up Division 12 (the South Shore Division) of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

The USCGAUX was founded by Congress in 1939 with the task of augmenting the United States Coast Guard in all its functions and responsibilities except law enforcement and military operations. We are approximately 33,000 volunteers nationwide. We assist the Coast Guard by

  • teaching safe boating and navigation courses
  • conducting free vessel examinations
  • assisting in search and rescue/recovery operations by sea and air
  • conducting 'aids to navigation' surveys
  • assisting in port and shipping security
  • freeing up active duty Coast Guard personnel for their many other functions and tasks

We receive extensive training in Coast Guard and Auxiliary functions and procedures so that we may assist the Coast Guard in its vital missions. We welcome any and all individuals who are willing and able to donate their time and efforts in support of those missions. The only requirements for membership are that you be 17 years or older, and a United States citizen.
